R&D Project SecBluRed

The SecBluRed Project – A Holistic Approach to Cybersecurity in Industrial IoT, proposes various lines of research aimed at addressing several challenges that the Spanish industry will face in the coming years. This R&D project is part of the CDTI’s Missions Program 2022.

SecBluRed is aligned with the mission “Boosting the Spanish Industry in the 21st Century Industrial Revolution” and, within this mission, focuses on the area “Development of cybersecurity capabilities focused on productive, operational, and logistical activities in the industrial environment that provide the necessary protection to the connected industry.”

Research axes in the project

IIoT Security

The objective of this initiative is to identify new complementary mechanisms to the current ones to enhance the cybersecurity of IIoT systems.

IIoT Security

Its goal is to provide additional mechanisms to an IIoT system (whether new or already in operation) to enhance its defense against cyberattacks from malicious internal and/or external actors, aiming to prevent information leakage or manipulation.

Our goal is to validate that the new IIoT construction components are cyber-secure, as well as to ensure that the defense mechanisms for IIoT proposed in the project are effective.

The SecBluRed project proposes a holistic research approach to cybersecurity for Industrial IoT, which could be extendable to other industrial technological environments.

Identify HW/SW architecture components with innovative functions that should be incorporated into IIoT.

Identify innovative cyber defense mechanisms in industrial IoT networks.

Identify novel cyber-attacks to demonstrate the strength of the proposed mechanisms.

General objectives of the project

The SecBluRed consortium comprises a group of Spanish companies and R&D organizations: MTP, as the consortium leader; EDOSOFT and OPEN CANARIAS, located in the Canary Islands; amplía))), located in Madrid; TSK, located in Asturias; and SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC headquartered in Barcelona with a nationwide presence.

MTP’s participation in the SecBluRed project aims to expand its expertise in disruptive technologies such as AI within the field of cybersecurity in Industrial IoT. This expansion will enable MTP to enhance its portfolio of professional services in the medium term to meet the increasingly growing demand for IoT system testing.

The SecBluRed project – Holistic Approach to Cybersecurity in Industrial IoT – is scheduled to conclude in 2025.

The project is led and coordinated by MTP (Métodos y Tecnología de Sistemas y Procesos S.L.).

SecBluRed is a project co-financed by the Center for Industrial Technological Development (CDTI) through the Missions 2022 call (resolution dated June 16, 2022, by the CDTI Presidency).
